Corporate Social Responsibility

Our Impact

At Genesis Energy, we view every project as an opportunity to make a lasting difference. As stewards of our communities and environment, we pledge to integrate responsible and sustainable practices that protect our people, our planet, and deliver long-term value to our shareholders.

We are fully committed to aligning our operations and investment decisions with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — embedding measurable impact targets into how we originate, develop, execute, and operate our projects.

Our approach integrates global frameworks such as the 2X Challenge (Gender Lens Investing), Climate Action and Decarbonisation Goals, and Economic Empowerment principles, ensuring every Genesis project contributes directly to Africa’s sustainable growth story.

As proud champions of Africa’s clean energy transition, we are driving inclusive economic growth through dependable, affordable, and clean power – powering people, planet, and prosperity.

Lady in Red Opera

In 2022 and 2023, Genesis supported the Lady in Red Opera by buying a ten-seater table and inviting private sector professionals to attend and contribute to the initiative’s objectives of exposing high school learners to different careers that industry leaders are experts in.

In 2024, GENESIS will further donate boxes of solar lights that will support South African matriculants through the challenges of loadshedding (national power outages) as they prepare for their final exams.

About Lady in Red Opera

The Lady in Red Opera is an event that was inaugurated at Sanlam Head Office with the intention to create business to business networks through opera nights. The Lady in Red hire opera students from UCT College music to perform and give them a platform to expose their talent during the gala dinner. Through the Amaqhawe Ngemfundo NGO, we tutor grade 10 to grade 12 students during weekends in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects. We invite top 10 students both grade 10 and grade 12 to attend the event to allow them to network with industry leaders of their dream careers.
